Hoboken Eats: Little Town NJ {Sweets}

Let’s face it…some have a sweet tooth, some have a savory tooth. Luckily {or not so luckily}, I have a bit of both. However, when ordering the end of the meal at Little Town NJ recently {NOW CLOSED}, I was uber-excited to try a variety of desserts and sweets with a group of friends.

Here are a few of the delicious {and NJ local} treats we sampled:

1. Fried Oreos

Insane amount of powdered sugar…but oh so good.

What’s better than traveling back to your days at the county fair eating some fried oreos? I can’t get enough of these (but my jeans can…they are begging me to eat them in moderation). A definite go-to dessert on this menu. And yes, that’s powdered sugar on the oreos, not a snowstorm.

Fried Oreo goodness.

Fried Oreo goodness.

2. Zeppoles: an Italian pastry consisting of a deep-fried dough ball

 You might be wondering why there’s a brown bag in this shot. If you’re a boardwalk-frequenter, you know. Zeppoles are a staple dessert DTS. And that they always come in a brown bag. I just LOVE that Little Town NJ stays true to authenticity – even if it means holding the plate and serving the brown paper bag.

Brown bag dessert – zeppoles!

3. Brownie Fudge Sundae

While I didn’t manage a picture of this due to my friends’ forks devouring it too quickly, let’s just say it was good. The brownie was a little drier than my usual liking, but that’s because I like my brownies half baked. Who can go wrong with a brownie for dessert? Mmmm.

4. Blueberry Mojito

If you’re into sweet drinks, definitely try the blue reserve mojito. I loved it! Fresh mint muddled with blueberries – so delicious. I have also heard good things about the Cucumber Basil Cocktail (if you like your drinks more savory). Next time I want to try the Whitesbog Sunrise (blueberry syrup, OJ, lemon juice, and maker’s mark) or the Chatsberg Cranberry Cooler!

Having grown up in New Jersey, I love the fact that Little Town NJ serves mainly local NJ grub and drinks. While they’re a new establishment and still have a few kinks to work out (like any new restaurant), we really enjoyed our desserts and drinks. Will definitely be back soon, especially to play SKEE BALL (here’s a tip: it’s free on Friday and Saturday nights!). I also hear there is a $1 oyster happy hour.

Now, it’s time for a trip to the gym!
